An SSL certificate is a small data file hosted in a web server, which establishes an encrypted link between a web server and a browser. The encrypted link ensures the data transmission process is private. When a website is secured by an SSL certificate, you can see HTTPS in the URL and a padlock icon in the URL address bar.

The benefits of using SSL certificates are:

1. Keep user data secure.

2. Verify ownership of the website.

3. Prevent attackers from creating a fake version of the site, and gain user trust.

AgileCDN supports creating free SSL certificates. It handles the SSL certificate management and renews the certificates before expiration for you. To create a free SSL certificate with AgileCDN, you can follow the steps below.
