Prefetching is a technique for speeding up fetch operations by beginning a fetch operation whose result is expected to be needed soon. It allows the CDN to fetch resources that might be requested by users in the near future from the origin server and cache them in the edge locations.

CDN Prefetching can speed up content delivery for those first users, because the CDN doesn’t need to fetch the content that is not cached from the origin server. It also helps reduce the burden of the origin servers, because the origin server gets fewer requests. CDN Prefetching is especially useful in some scenarios, such as delivering large files, publishing new software, and more.

AgileCDN provides link prefetching function which supports specializing areas. To use this powerful function, here is how.

Step 1: Log in to AgileCDN dashboard.

Step 2: Select Logs and Traffic > Prefetch Management.

Step 3: Click Create. In the Create section, select the designated area and input the CDN file paths. At last, click Submit.
